Exiled Textiles will feature an art exhibit, an upcycled craft sale, and a textile mending station 🖼🧵 It will be held at our gallery entrance at 34 NW Broadway (NW Broadway & Couch) in Old Town. Entry is free.

Textiles are a mark of humanity, central to survival and culture for thousands of years. But overproduction, a shift towards synthetics, weak labor standards, and a fashion industry that tells us that we aren’t cool without the latest threads have created a culture of waste that undermines human health and survival.

Exiled textiles will explore the way textiles are undermining health and dignity in Portland and around the world, highlight innovations in upcycling, reuse and repair; and offer ideas for the types of investments needed to revive textiles as a source of culture and survival.
