Event at Valley Community Presbyterian Church

James Recycling will be holding an event on Saturday, October 19th, from 9am to noon at Valley Community Presbyterian Church located at 8060 SW Brentwood St, Portland. 

There will LOTS of very cool special guest organizations (listed below) that will be set up in the Tri-Met parking lot at 4248 SW Laurelwood Ave.  

What we will be taking:

We will not be accepting everything listed on our website, only items listed HERE.  

We will not be accepting any curbside recycling items. Click here for a list of curbside items.

PLEASE NOTE – CAPS MUST BE REMOVED FROM PRESCRIPTION PILL BOTTLES!

$3/grocery bag of sorted recycling (or similar 5-gallon container)

Special Guests:

Green Century Recycling will be collecting Styrofoam and Styrofoam products at $10 per 45-gallon bag!  Styrofoam must be clean, dry and without tape, labels, glue, ink, paint, food residue & sorted into the categories shown HEREThey will also be collecting electronics & other items at no charge.  See their full list of accepted items HERE

Fred Meyer will be collecting plastic bags and film – ziplock, grocery, bread, produce, dry cleaning, newspaper, cereal, bubble wrap, outer wrapping, plastic food wrap; no crinkly plastic bags (e.g., salad bags)

Community Warehouse will be collecting good condition (see website for what’s acceptable) mattresses, side tables, dressers, armchairs, small appliances, cookware, utensils, dishware, sheets, and blankets. Community Warehouse works with social service agencies to get those items in the hands of those who need it most.

Just Porch It will be taking textiles, usable and unusable, clothing, shoes, belts, hats, purses, bags, backpacks, knickknacks.  No wet or moldy items please.  All donations must be bagged.

SCRAP will be collecting a variety of items, click HERE to see the complete list

Portland Running Company will be accepting usable shoes for distribution to others; not usable athletic shoes to be ground up for multipurpose uses.

The Book Corner Beaverton City Library will be collecting books, DVDs, CDs

Valley Youth group will be collecting refundable bottles & cans

St. Matthew’s Food Pantry will be collecting nonperishable, nonexpired packaged food.  No homemade or bulk-bin foods

Utonne  offers subscriptions for emission reduction and reforestation solutions.  Nearly 3 billion people worldwide lack the resources to afford a safe and efficient cookstove that gets smoke out of the home and keeps kids from getting burned.  Untonne members help pay down the cost of these stoves, and, in the process reduce emissions equal to some or all of their members’ carbon footprint
