Free compost over Earth Day weekend
Every fall, Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) collects leaves from city streets and converts them into high-quality compost. This spring, they have so much compost, they’re giving it away for free!
From April 21 - 24, in celebration of Earth Day, Portlanders can pick up their FREE compost at the Sunderland Maintenance Yard, 9325 NE Sunderland Road, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. This offer ends on April 24 or when they run out of compost, so don’t delay.
If you have an open-bed vehicle, PBOT will load the compost for you. If you want to bag your own, please bring your own shovel and bags.
Questions? Call 503-823-3500. Happy gardening!
All persons using the PBOT’s Free Compost Program do so voluntarily and take and use products at their own risk. All products are offered “as is."
