GLEAN exhibit challenges ideas about waste and taps the creativity of artists to inspire people to think about their consumption habits, the waste they generate and the resources they throw away.

The exhibit will feature the works of five local artists – May Maylisa Cat, Curtis Reid Henderson, Christina Kemp, Cristina Niculescu and Lynn Yarne – who have transformed a steady stream of the Portland area’s trash into art.

GLEAN is a partnership between Recology, an employee-owned integrated resource recovery and recycling company, Metro, the regional government that guides the region’s garbage and recycling systems, and Crackedpots.

The exhibition runs at Disjecta from October 3 until November 1; Friday through Sunday, 12 until 5 p.m.

The exhibit is free and the gallery is wheelchair accessible.
